As if the Summer Holidays at Climb Quest weren’t already exciting enough, week commencing 5th – 11th August, we hosted a Speed Climb Challenge in line with the Speed Climbing Olympics.
With our climbing walls being manufactured by the same company as the walls in the Olympics (Entre-Prises), we felt it was only right to utilise our Speed Wall. Climb Quest would also like to congratulate Tony Roberts for securing a gold medal which is also GB’s first medal in Sport Climbing!
The uptake of our climbers pushing themselves to get their fastest time and then work to improve on this was outstanding, and the event was enjoyed by climbers of all ages, our staff and our designated referees. We even had some climbers return in the same week to push themselves to improve their previous times making their way further up the results table!
With 3 different age categories: 4-10, 11-17 and 18+, each had their own set times to complete our Speed Wall to then receive their prizes. For our 4–17 year old climbers, they received a Bronze, Silver or Gold medal for times ranging from 15-30 seconds, alongside a Speed Climb certificate and climbers aged 18+ were challenged to 10-20 seconds to be entered into Bronze, Silver or Gold prize draws. Winners received a Family Climbing ticket, 2x Climbing tickets and a Merchandise goody bag.
Some of our best times were 7.03, 7.35, 10.34, 12.24 and 13.34 which were incredible, and we are pleased that over 200 climbers enjoyed taking part. We hope that the motivation and drive for challenging yourself on our Speed Wall continues and our staff will always be happy to praise your future achievements. Most importantly, we encourage climbers to use our dual climber wall to have lots of fun racing and climbing alongside family and friends!
